Three Share Childcare Expertise

Maikoetter Is Keynote Speaker.

Sprock and Wright lead breakout sessions at 2022 CORE conference.

BOYS RANCH, Texas – Boys Ranch staff members continue to be in demand as expert speakers on residential childcare topics.

Three staff members shared their expertise Oct. 11-13 with the Coalition of Residential Excellence during the group’s annual conference in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Michelle Maikoetter, chief program officer for Boys Ranch, opened the conference’s general session as keynote speaker with “Matching the Mission With the Mayhem.” Maikoetter also led two breakout sessions, “Never Enough.”

Suzanne Wright, vice president of training and intervention, led two sessions related to childcare facility admissions: “New Resident Assessment: Admission and Belonging.”

All three speakers reported strong interest in their topics and good feedback on the presentations.

Maikoetter serves on the CORE board of directors.

“Boys Ranch strives to be one of the leaders in residential childcare,” Maikoetter said. “Being a part of CORE helps us to share our knowledge and experience while also learning from other exceptional organizations.”

Maikoetter’s lifelong interest in helping others led her to become one of the foremost trauma-informed professional childcare specialists in the United States. She was among the first Child Trauma Academy Fellows selected by Dr. Bruce Perry in 2012, and she currently acts as the director of special projects for his Neurosequential Network.

Wright has been with Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch for 22 years, beginning as a homelife supervisor. She also has experience in Children’s Protective Services, residential care and psychiatric care. She’s a licensed childcare administrator and a licensed social worker. She is a trainer in the Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression and the Neurosequential Model©.

Sprock began work for Boys Ranch as a houseparent in 2005. He then worked as a campus life supervisor before becoming a trainer. Sprock is a master facilitator in the Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression, a Neurosequential Model© trainer and a licensed childcare administrator. He is also a school board member for the Boys Ranch Independent School District.
