Holiday traditions are of great importance to the Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch community and the campus has been buzzing with festive annual events, including the Christmas Light Contest.
A bright glow filled the dark sky over the Canadian River valley once again this December as the campus came alive with lights on 28 homes and other buildings.
House parents and children worked together to get their homes ready to be judged by Boys Ranch alumni and others this past week.
Popular displays included Charlie Brown’s bunch, Whoville and the Grinch and larger than life deer and snowmen. The only thing brighter than the outdoor décor was the bright eyes of the children as they anticipated the other traditions of the annual cantata and home parties when Santa came to visit.
Moving light displays, musical blow-up characters and well-lit hand-painted message boards made this year’s display, open to the public, one of the best ever!
Some current seniors from the 2020 graduating class and volunteer Boys Ranch alumni had the difficult task of choosing the top three winners. The winners were, in respective order, Carter, Romersi One and MF Home.
This marked the second year the public was invited to come on ranch and view all the lights on display.
